Obituary for Jean Morganelli Koehne

Jean M. Koehne passed away peacefully on October 14, 2022 at Our Lady of Providence in Winooski, surrounded by her loving family. Jean was born May 26, 1932, in Brooklyn, NY the youngest of six children to Pasquale and Louise (DeYeso) Morganelli. She was a 1950 graduate of Fort Hamilton High School where she met Raymond H. Koehne; they married in 1951. Together, Ray and Jean celebrated 56 years of marriage until his passing in 2008. While raising her family she was a dedicated homemaker. They started their family in New York and then in Tewksbury, MA while Ray finished his degree at Merrimack College. They moved to Charlton, NY where Jean remained a busy and dedicated homemaker to a large growing family. Ray and Jean traveled south for the winters and eventually retired in Jupiter, Florida, spending summers at their camp on Lake Champlain. They enjoyed traveling together and had many close friends, a full social calendar, enjoying music and dancing. Above all, Jean cherished her family and friends.
Jean led a self-less life and showed kindness to everyone she met. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt who lived life to the fullest. She loved her children and grandchildren very much and was very proud of all of them. Jean always made those around her feel welcomed and at ease. She enjoyed being around people and taking the time to get to know them.
Jean was devout in her faith and cherished her relationship with Christ. She was a faithful communicant at the Immaculate Conception Church in Glenville, NY and St. Jude Catholic Church in Tequesta, Florida. She attended daily Mass and prayed the rosary daily always staying close to Jesus and devoting herself to her Catholic faith. She lived her faith daily and was a strong advocate for the unborn. Jean was a devoted volunteer at her children’s schools. She was a long-time member of the PTA at St. Joseph’s Academy. She was involved with Rosary groups and Bible Study groups. Jean loved being a member of the GG’s (Glenville Grandmas).
Jean is predeceased by her loving spouse, Raymond H. Koehne, her daughter, Susan Elizabeth, and her Grandson, Alexander Koehne. She is also predeceased by her parents and siblings.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Mary Helen Ciesinski (Michael), Raymond J. Koehne, Jeanne Koehne (Steve Andersen), Janice Handschumacher, Lorine Chylinski, James Koehne (Lisa), William Koehne (Linda), Kathleen Lynch (Tom), John Koehne (Kay), Kristine Koehne (David Hershey), her cherished 28 Grandchildren, 11 Great Grandchildren and expecting 2 new Great Grandchildren in 2023. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and other family members.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Francis Xavier in Winooski, VT on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at 11am. Committal service will be a burial held by the family Thursday, October 20 at 10am at Calvary Cemetery in Willsboro, NY. A Memorial Mass will be held in the summer 2023 yet to be determined at Immaculate Conception Church in Glenville, NY.
The family wishes to express their deep gratitude to all the staff at Our Lady of Providence and the University of Vermont Medical Center Hospice and especially Hospice Nurse Nancy Carlson for their exceptional care of Jean.
