John H. Schmoll, 77 of Milton, passed away on December 29, 2022 surrounded by his family.
John H. was born to John B. and Polly Schmoll on May 5, 1945 in Elmira, New York. John spent the majority of his working life as a purchasing agent. He finished his career at Velan Valve Corporation where he spent 28 years in purchasing. During his time in these positions, John made many friends and developed lifelong relationships that he cherished. Throughout his life, John was an active member of The Jericho United Methodist Church where he was an integral part of the community. He enjoyed spending time outside and tinkering on a variety of projects.
John H. married Pauline K. Savaria on April 20, 1968 at St. Stephens Catholic Church in Winooski. John H. is survived by his wife Pauline and two children, John E. Schmoll and his wife Kristina, and Michael Schmoll and his partner Wendy Smith. He is survived by eight grandchildren, Tyler and his wife Jordanne, Cody and his wife Chelsea, Nicholas, Meghan, Breanna, Sara, Jayden, and Michael B, and three great-grandchildren Lilly, Reece, and Hazel. He is also survived by his brother, David Schmoll and his wife Linda, along with several nieces and nephews. John H. was predeceased by his parents, John B. and Polly, and his brother Howard.
John H. was an avid reader, and he loved history and trains. One of his favorite hobbies was watching Jeopardy each evening. He also enjoyed collecting and repairing guns, as well as rebuilding engines and old cars. He was passionate about giving back,and he was always the first to sign up for a volunteering event or donate to a worthy cause. John had a positive impact on our community, and he will be truly missed.
Calling hours will be at Lavigne’s Funeral Home in Winooski on Thursday, January 5, 2023 from 4:00 pm- 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 6, 2023 at 11:00 am at The Jericho United Methodist Church in Jericho. A spring burial will be held at St. Thomas Cemetery in Underhill. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the American Cancer Society- Lois McClure Bee Tabakin Hope Lodge in Burlington in John’s name.
