Obituary for Michael Zdiuch

Michael Joseph Zdiuch, 77 of Essex Junction Vermont passed on Saturday December 3 rd
at the McClure Miller Respite House. Michael was born in Medina New York on June 11 th 1945
to Chester and Dorothy (Henry) Zdiuch. He spent his early years residing in New Jersey, before
moving to Hughsonville, New York. He graduated in 1964 from Roy C. Ketcham Senior High
School in Wappingers Falls, NY.
While working at IBM in Vermont, he met the love of his life, Louise. In 1971 Michael
married Louise Linda Mary Bessette at Holy Family Parish in Essex Junction, Vermont. They
started their life in Wappingers Falls NY. A few years later they moved their family to Vermont
where Michael resided the rest of his life. Michael retired from IBM after 33 years of service.
He then continued his career working for Homeland Security as a Law Enforcement Specialist
for ICE. Michael enjoyed working so much that he continued to work right up until his passing.
Michael served as an E3 in the US Navy from 1966 to 1968 with an honorable discharge.
Michael belonged to a lot of different organizations throughout the years. Starting with the
Knights of Columbus, The American Legion Post 91 where he held many different offices. The
Moose Lodge, Eagles Club, as well as the VFW Post 6689 where he served as the Auxiliary
President. Michael enjoyed belonging to these organizations serving the Veterans, Military and
his community.
To an outsider Michael was a quiet man of very few words, but to the people that were
a part of his life, they saw a very different person. Michael’s goal in life was to give his family
the absolute best that he could. Michael was a very loving man who showed his love through
actions, more so than through words or touches. But all of those that were a part of his life
didn’t doubt for a minute the love he had for them.
Michael is survived by his sister Alice Myers (Zdiuch) and husband Walt. Oldest daughter
Kathy Ashfield and husband Randy, Middle daughter Jocelyn Holcomb and partner Chris Sozio,
youngest daughter, Michelle Wright and her husband Troy. His grandchildren Owen Zdiuch,
Madison and Morgan Holcomb, and Lauren and Leah Wright. Michael is also survived by many
In-laws, as well as, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Michael is predeceased by his wife Louise Zdiuch, father Chester Zdiuch, mother
Dorothy Zdiuch, his in-laws Gilbert and Theresa Bessette, as well as sister-in-law’s and nephews
and nieces.
The Family would like to extend a special Thank You to the McClure Miller Respite
House for taking such wonderful care of our Father.
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The McClure Miller Respite House in
Michael’s name.
Visiting Hours will be held from 4:00 to 7:00Pm Friday December 9 th at LaVigne Funeral
Home and Cremation Service. ​
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Family Parish Saturday December 10 th at
11:00Am. Following Mass there will be a reception held at The VFW Post 6689, 73 Pearl St,
Essex.
