Obituary for Nancy Gay Miller (Gay)

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Nancy Gay Miller, who passed away peacefully at home at the age of 74 on March 14, 2023. She was born on July 31, 1948, in Boston, MA. Her parents were L. Stearns and Barbara S. Gay. She grew up in Bristol, Vermont, raised her family in Warren, Vermont and later retired in Colchester.

Nancy was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was married to Gordon Miller for 56 years and they built a beautiful life together filled with love, joy, and laughter. They were each other's best friend and soulmate.

Nancy was a loving mother to her son, Seth and her daughter, Hannah. She adored her grandchildren, Sophia, Sydney, and ChloƩ , and cherished every moment she got to spend with them.

Aside from her family, Nancy had many passions in life. She loved birdwatching and spent countless hours observing and admiring the beauty of nature. She also had a talent for baking bread, which she generously shared with her family and friends. Nancy was an animal lover and had a special affinity for Flat-Coated retrievers.

Throughout her life, Nancy worked in many jobs, including teaching special education and later as a software tester at IBM. She was an intelligent and hardworking woman who dedicated herself to every task she took on.

Nancy is survived by her husband Gordon, her children Seth Miller and his wife Buffy, Hannah Miller and her husband Michael, her grandchildren Sophia, Sydney, and ChloƩ , and her brother Stephen Gay and his wife Judith, her sister Joyce Langley Rousse, her brother Todd Langley and his wife Cindy, and her brother Scott Langley. She was predeceased by her sister Cythia Gay. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A celebration of Nancy's life will be held in the summer of 2023 for all of her family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Flat-Coated Retriever Foundation (https://www.fcrfoundation.org/cgi-bin/memorials.pl) in her memory. Nancy will forever be in our hearts and memories.
