Obituary for Ramona Bouchard

It is with our heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, wife and mémé, Ramona Chaffee Bouchard of Bradenton, FL., who passed away peacefully on April 26th at Tidewell Hospice House.

She was the daughter of the late Roy and Mildred Chaffee of Morrisville and the wife of Roland Bouchard of Bradenton, FL.

Roland and Ramona married on September 2, 1950, with a lifelong commitment, a love which is never ending. They were together through the thick and thin, for seventy-two treasured years.

They have enjoyed a very full life together with many of their family and friends. She retired from General Electric.

They spent many years in Florida. When they returned home in the spring, they spent precious time together at home or at the lake in Alburgh.

Mona loved to play cards, bingo and she loved to travel to the casinos!

Family meant everything to her. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and many special friends over the years.

Ramona is survived by her husband of 72 years, Roland Bouchard who was her devoted spouse and caregiver until the last year, son Raymond (Deborah) Bouchard, daughters, Dianna (Peter) Dion and Debbie (Jeff) Smail. Grandchildren, James (Michelle) Dion, Jason Dion, Jeremy (Sara) Smail and Danielle (Keith) Gingue. Great grandchildren Lily and Christian Dion, Anthony Dion, Jackson and Lincoln Smail and Mason and Bennett Gingue, sister Eleanor Sweeney, brother Wade Chaffee and partner Diane Bettis, brother in-law Clement Bouchard, many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Besides her parents, Ramona was predeceased by her grandson, Jared Dion; her siblings, Agnes (Durrell) Stancliffe, Barbara (Harold) Bowen, Raymond (Barbara) Chaffee, Ethel (Charlie) Cookson, Doris (Lawrence) Stancliffe, her in-laws, Clement and Irene Bouchard, Doris and Bob Hawley, Ernie and Theresa Bouchard and Mary Bouchard, as well as her sister-in-law Marilyn Chaffee and brother-in-law Newton Sweeney.

We would like to thank the staff of Freedom Village and a special thank you to the staff at Tidewell Hospice House.

Friends and family are invited to Ramona’s life celebration on May 25th. Visitation will be held at LaVigne Funeral Home Thursday, May 25 from 10-12 with a memorial service following at St. Francis Xavier Church at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Tidewell Hospice House at 2504 34th Avenue West
