Obituary for Theresa Myers

On Thursday, December 30, 2021 our Mother’s golden heart of 94 years old stopped beating on her Mother’s Birthday surrounded in love by her family. She left this world for her Heavenly reward with her Lord and Creator.

Theresa was born at home in Winooski on November 30, 1927 to Eugene and Florence (Poirier) Phillips. She was educated at St. Francis Xavier School and Mount Saint Mary’s in Burlington. On October 23, 1950 she married the love of her life Armand J. (Jim) Myers of Winooski at St. Francis Xavier Parish in Winooski. They were happily married for fifty years raising their children and residing in Winooski.

She was employed by New England Telephone as a telephone operator. When her first child was born she became a stay at home mom. She loved her family and that love was all she needed and lived for. She was the tiny, silent, strong pillar in our family and our moral compass that was always there to support her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her sister and brother in law Pauline and Andre Bouchard of Winooski, sister in law Monique Phillips of Essex. Her children Carol (Kevin) Lavalley of Georgia, James (Jim) (Claire) Myers of Milton, Bernadette (Joe) Eddy of Essex and Raymond (Nancy) Myers of Milton. Grandchildren Bethany (Jeremy) Williams, Stephaine Eddy, Rebecca Stech, Sarah (Megan) Myers, Samantha (Matt) Henchen, Tracie Myers and Jacob Lavalley. Great-grandchildren Kelsey, Ryan, Tyler, Luke, Tanner, Naomi, Aiden, Trynity, Mason, Harper and Teagan and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Jim, daughter Jeanne, parents, brother’s Donald and Bernard Phillips of Winooski, brother in law and sister in law Leopold (Paul) and Doris Myers of Winooski, sister in law and brother in law Cecile and Joseph Bigue of Winooski, sister in law Clair Phillips of Winooski, and granddaughter Angela Kelley of Milton.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 8, 2021 at 11:00 AM at St Francis Xavier Parish in Winooski. Face masks are required.

Our mom was a sweet, kind and very faithful woman. Please do a random act of kindness in her honor. We would like to thank the staff of Elderwood Nursing Home for the compassionate care she was given her last 3 years on this earth.

Donations in her memory may be made to: St Francis Xavier Parish 3 Saint Peter Street Winooski VT 05404
