On July 2, 2022, Urbain Joseph Dupont died peacefully at home with his loving family by his side at the age of 96. He was born on February 18, 1926 to Leonard and Estelle Dupont. He was educated in Winooski and went into the US Army at age 18. He served in the Philippines, Luzon Island, during WWII and was discharged on 12/4/46 as Sgt. Major.
On May 14, 1949 he married Lucille C. Ferland in Winooski. He worked for the Chittenden Bank, and the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier until his retirement. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church, D.A.V. Burlington Chapter 5, VFW Post 782 Burlington, NALC Branch 521, and Union St. Jean Baptiste.
He is survived by his children, Jim (Roberta) of Marblehead, MA, Monica Senatore of Pittsford, Alan (Vicky) of Milton and Gerry (Peggy) of Frisco, TX. 10 Grandchildren, Jessica, Heidi, Sherry, Randi, Alyssa, Josh, Krista, Ryan, Joey and Samantha. 14 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great, Great Grandchildren. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews
Urbain was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille. His son-in-law Peter Senatore, two sisters, Anita LeBoeuf, Florence Fleming and a brother, Romeo.
The family would like to thank both the staff and the residents at Homestead Assisted Living for caring and watching over him. He considered them his extended family.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, July 11 at 10:30am, at St. Francis Xavier Church in Winooski. A full military ceremony will follow at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 1:00pm.
